Speaking of Agatha, she is an interesting character. When Penelope is accused of not liking Simon’s relationship with her girlfriend Agatha, she replies with a simple “she made them both miserable”, which is true. Penelope may be one of my favorite ladies of all time and I loved that the relationship between her and Simon turned out to be crush at its finest and that there was never any talk of them meeting. This was actually my first Rainbow Rowell novel and I have been assured that this is common in his books.
The characters in this novel are so memorable that it really felt like I was returning to a cast of characters that I had known for years. Seriously, I think I upset the person I was talking to. And the twist on this big bad is so damn clever that I couldn’t stop screeching about it.
There is also, like every good magical “series”, a mystery to solve and a great evil to fight.
